NiagaraAX 3.6, New Battery-less Option Card and JACE-7 WiFi Option Card Are Now Available
VYKON is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the latest version of NiagaraAX, Release 3.6 as well as a new Battery-less Option Card and WiFi Option Card for the JACE-7.
NiagaraAX 3.6
NiagaraAX Release 3.6, the latest version of the Niagara Framework, contains several new features and enhancements including support for battery-less options and 802.11 WiFi on selected JACE's, heightened security features and a number of usability enhancements.
This release also offers a variety of enhanced capabilities such as expanded functions for Niagara's Wire Sheet, Weather Module, RSA SecureID Integration, and Conversion Links. In addition, Release 3.6 adds full validation for Windows® 7 and support for Windows® 2008 Server.
VYKON products including the AX Supervisor, the JACE®-4 series, JACE®-5, JACE®-2, JACE®-6, JACE®-7, JACE®-NXT and JACE®-XPR Series are now available to order with NiagaraAX 3.6.
Additional information for NiagaraAX Release 3.6 can be found at:

Important Note:
1. Sedona 1.0 modules are incompatible with AX 3.6 Workbench and stations. The 3.6 installer will not copy Sedona 1.0 modules forward from a 3.4 or 3.5 release installation. If these modules are manually copied into a 3.6 installation, they will need to be removed in order for Workbench to function properly. Do not upgrade a platform with Sedona devices to AX 3.6 until Sedona 1.1 is available (later this year). Changes to the licensing features within Niagara have been made that affect communication to Sedona devices.
2. Vykon Security Platforms will remain at NiagaraAX 3.5 until the next major security release planned later this fall. Do not attempt to upgrade a security platform to NiagaraAX 3.6. Integrated systems (Security and BAS) should also remain at NiagaraAX 3.5 until the security platforms can be upgraded to NiagaraAX 3.6
Battery-less Option Card for JACE®-2 / 6 / 7 / XPR Series
This new option card enables the JACE to protect valuable data from loss during a power failure without a backup battery. With this option, the existing backup battery in the JACE may be removed and discarded according to local disposal laws and still protect data during a loss of utility power.
Combined with NiagaraAX Release 3.6, this option saves data that would otherwise be lost if the JACE loses power and holds it for many days without a battery for backup. Once power is restored to the JACE, the data held on this option card is written to the database of the JACE station and normal operation resumes. This option card installs in one of the standard JACE communication card option slots.
Advantages of this option are:
- Eliminates the backup battery in the JACE and the labor and cost associated with having to periodically replace the battery
- Data will be protected in the event of a power loss without worrying that the backup battery may be weak or failed and not yet replaced
- Uses the Data Recovery Service which is a new feature in Release 3.6 of the NiagaraAX Framework™
- This card incorporates Static RAM and a "Super Cap" for data retention during a power loss at the JACE

JACE-7 WiFi Option Card
The T7-WIFI option card enables the JACE®-7 to connect to an 802.11 b/g wireless network for local or remote access without requiring a hardwired connection in areas of a building that may not be accessible to the customer wired network.
Advantages of this option are:
- Does not consume any of the standard JACE communication option slots, the JACE-7 is equipped with a dedicated socket on board expressly for this new option
- Supports a range of industry standard security encryption methods for data protection
- Eliminates having to run a network cable in buildings where the JACE is likely to be located; and connects to a local WiFi network for remote data and configuration access using all the standard login and other access protection features of the Niagara Framework
- The option includes a WiFi network adapter and the necessary mounting hardware for the antenna
- Requires Release 3.6 of the Niagara Framework™
